Pennsylvania State Aerie Membership Chairman, Past Aerie President
What does it mean to you to be an Eagles member?
When I was approached to become a member of Stroudsburg Aerie #1106, I was told the reasonable prices for food and refreshments was the reason to join. After becoming a member and attending meetings and events, I found there was a lot more to the F.O.E. There are opportunities to meet people from the local community and to share thoughts and ideas.
Why do you feel being a member of the Eagles is important?
I believe the greatest Eagles asset is the ability to raise money for charity. The Fraternal Order of Eagles is "People Helping People" and we prove this through our charity fundraising at the local, state and Grand Aerie levels. Everyone is directly or indirectly touched by one or more of the Eagles' funds-whether it's cancer, diabetes, child abuse, or one of the many other charities. Our individual donations are minuscule compared to the millions of dollars raised and donated to worthy causes every year. Being Eagles members allows our charity dollars to go further because every dollar donated goes directly to that charity.
What are the social benefits of being an Eagles member?
As Eagles members become more involved, they attend state, regional, and Grand Aerie conventions. The camaraderie we share with our Sisters and Brothers from other aeries in Pennsylvania and in all of Eagledom is a type of family bond. This family spirit is the true meaning of being an Eagle. We belong to the greatest fraternal organization in the world! Tell someone about us!
