It is with great excitement we announce the Eagles are once again working in government relations to make a difference in our country’s history. The Eagles have a long and distinguished history of helping to improve the lives of American families, children, and workers by helping to shape US government policies. Social Security, old age pensions, and Medicare are just some of the areas where the Eagles’ past work to shape laws have benefited millions of our fellow Americans. But much remains to be done.
Now, the Eagles will begin a new chapter in helping our fellow citizens. When more than one million Eagles in 1,500 aeries across the United States speak in one voice, our elected officials in Washington, DC will take notice.
Working to change national laws to help vulnerable people is another aspect of “people helping people,” and a natural accompaniment to the local charitable work all aeries undertake now. So, this year the Eagles’ have initiated a national government relations program focusing on three important issues:
Our grassroots efforts consist of a postcard campaign to each aerie and auxiliary’s Senate and House Representatives. Packets of postcards have been mailed to the secretaries of aeries and auxiliaries with a combined membership of 500+ to distribute to their members.
Additionally, Senator and Representative names and mailing information for all aeries and auxiliaries is now available online, see directions to completing a card below. Furthermore, Grand Aerie and Grand Auxiliary representatives traveling to state conventions beginning in April and continuing through June will have postcard packets, mailing information, etc. available for members attending those events to send postcards to their respective Senators and Representatives.
With these efforts we will achieve more than 300,000 postcards encouraging our elected officials to support the CARES Act. We appreciate your support and enthusiasm for this endeavor and look forward to celebrating our grassroots efforts when the CARES Act becomes law.
