Eagle Riders
Who Are the Eagle Riders?
The mission of the Eagle Riders is to have fun in a family oriented organization dedicated to the enjoyment of motorcycles, safe riding, while promoting the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Eagle Riders is a group of Fraternal Order of Eagles member motorcyclists who promote the Eagles and its causes, while doing something that they love - riding motorcycles.
The group is highly involved in aerie and auxiliary functions, poker runs, fundraisers, and local, state and international charity programs supported by the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Eagle Riders offer members another way to get involved and be more active in their aerie or auxiliary. Eagle Riders has succeeded at attracting younger members to the organization as well, proving to be the fastest growing "club within a club" in the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
What Do We Want to Accomplish?
We, as the Eagle Riders, would like to expand and grow into a nationwide group.
We would like to see Eagle Rider groups formed in every state and Canada. We know
that there are other Eagle Rider groups already formed in other areas, but we believe
that it would be very easy for all of us to come together and unite as one group,
with one patch, for the good of the Brotherhood. We would be one group, but each
individual Aerie group would govern itself. They would have their own dues, by-laws,
etc.
We would also like to start having a state rally, to be held at the same time as
the State Convention, and a national rally held at the same time as the National
Convention. We believe this would increase the numbers at each convention and therefore
increase involvement by newer and younger members in the F.O.E.
What Have We Done?
Eagles Riders of Kearney
Since our inception in August of 2005, the Eagles Riders of Kearney, Aerie 2722,
have developed a set of by-laws, designed a back patch, presented the Eagle Riders
to the Nebraska State Officers and presented them to the Grand Aerie. We have held
a SOUPer Bowl Sunday Soup Supper at the Kearney Aerie, held a poker run for the
Grand Worthy Presidents fund, volunteered to help our Aerie host the Nebraska State
Convention and presented a check for $1420.00 to the family of a little boy that
we adopted as our Lil' Bro, in an effort to help defray medical expenses for his
liver transplant.
Eagle Riders of Fremont
Since our inception the Eagle Riders of Fremont, Aerie 200, have developed a set
of by-laws, held a Fun Run in memory of one of our past members, and have helped
another Aerie organize a poker run for a local charity in their area.
Eagle Riders of Holdrege
Since our inception the Eagle Riders of Holdrege, Aerie 3132, have helped do foundation
work on a house built for Habitat for Humanity. This house is the first house built
by Habitat for Humanity in the state of Nebraska to have a basement. We also had
a poker run/doorag party at our Aerie on September 2, 2006.
How Do I Start an Eagles Riders Group?
Find a handful of interested aerie and/or auxiliary members to get things started.
- The Aerie must amend their by-laws to allow for the formation of an Eagle Riders Group.
- Upon amendment, contact your state coordinator to set-up a presentation meeting in your aerie.
- Advertise the presentation meeting within the aerie and/or auxiliary and to the general public, i.e. (newsletter, bulletin, fliers, etc.) Have interested Eagle members bring non-member friends.
- Hold meetings.
- First meeting: conduct a "meet and greet", establish date and time of regular meetings, and nominate officers.
- Second meeting: elect officers, fill out applications, determine cost of, and pay dues.
- Third meeting: establish group by-laws and ride rules.
- Fourth meeting and on: conduct ride group business (picking charities, planning rides, etc.)
We recommend that everybody attend and get involved at Aerie meetings. However, only the Eagle Rider President, or a delegate appointed by the Eagle Rider President, can speak for the group at an aerie meeting or function.
