“Beak and Quill” from Oregon named best in 2009 Eagle Bulletin Contest
The number of quality entries in the annual Eagle Bulletin Contest increased again
in 2009. After carefully review of all entries, the judges proclaimed Oregon’s “Beak
and Quill” as the Grand Prize winner.
The Oregon State Aerie/Auxiliary newsletter is edited by Anthony Rizzi.
“The layout of the Beak and Quill is simple and eye-catching,” said the judges,
“and it highlights real news up front instead of opening with a full-page calendar
or messages from the Presidents. Too many of the bulletins do the latter and end
up giving short shrift to what’s actually happening at their Aeries and Auxiliaries.
“Day-by-day calendars and columns by Eagle leaders are fine in their place, but
it’s the news that belongs up front.”
Thanks to all our Eagle editors for the outstanding job they do communicating our
“People Helping People” message to our members.
