Jim Roberts helped raise more than $104,000 for TLC for Children and Families
OLATHE, Kan. (July 17, 2009) – Jim Roberts of Olathe recently concluded his year-long term as Grand Worthy President of the International Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE). Roberts was honored as part of the Eagles’ International Grand Convention held in Reno, Nev. this past week, celebrating his accomplishments as leader of the 1.1 million-member organization.
“It has been an absolute joy serving as Grand Worthy President of such an important organization this past year,” said Junior Past Grand Worthy President Jim Roberts. “This opportunity allowed me to meet many wonderful people during my travels. I have learned so much that I will take with me as I continue my work with the Eagles.”
Roberts was installed as Grand Worthy President by the Eagles’ membership in July 2008 during the Eagles’ International Grand Convention in Louisville, Ky. During his one-year term, he visited more than 160 aeries (Eagles clubs) in U.S. states and Canadian provinces, helping to recruit more than 87,700 new members and working to raise more than $104,000 for his presidential charity, Olathe-based TLC for Children and Families.
“I am thankful to the Eagles for giving me the chance to spread the good news about our organization,” said Roberts. “Their generosity has made and continues to make a difference in the lives of people across the world as well as right here in Olathe.”
During Roberts’ term, he organized a cruise to benefit TLC. The TLC Cruise raised more than $16,000 for the children. More than 180 Eagles members, their families and friends sailed to sunny destinations such as San Juan and St. Thomas while supporting Roberts’ designated charity.
Roberts has served the International FOE Grand Aerie, the Kansas State FOE and the local Olathe aerie #700 in many roles including: Grand Aerie Trustee and Grand Worthy Chaplain; Kansas South Central Regional President, Kansas State Aerie President and all offices of the local chapter.
