Local Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary Welcome Grand Madam President to Salina
Leader of 1.1 million member organization, GMP Jean Kerr to visit
Salina, Kansas (July 31, 2009) — The Smoky Hill Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #765 welcomes the International Eagles Grand Madam President Jean Kerr on Thursday, August 13 to the Smoky Hill Auxiliary, located at 146 N. 7th St.
The Smoky Hill Auxiliary will be presenting Kerr with a donation to her designated charity, the F.O.E.’s Memorial Foundation.
“Our auxiliary is honored to welcome the newly instituted Grand Madam President to our wonderful city of Salina,” said Jo Ann Bell, Smoky Hill Secretary. “We wanted to support our Grand Madam President and her designated charity during her time with us.”
The Memorial Foundation supports children (including those legally adopted) of members who die while serving their country or at work. All Eagle members and their families are automatically protected by this unprecedented safety net. With the Memorial Foundation children of deceased members who die while serving their country or at work are able to attend college or vocational school with grants.
During her year-long term, Kerr will spend approximately 260 days traveling to FOE auxiliaries throughout the U.S. and Canada to increase membership, grow the number of established auxiliaries across both countries, build a stronger relationship between the aeries and auxiliaries and encourage members to become active for social change.
The Smoky Hill Auxiliary #765 was instituted into the local community in 1948 and has grown to more than 100 members of the local community. The Smoky Hill Auxiliary aids the local community and exemplifies the international organization’s motto of ‘People Helping People,’ by donating approximately $3,000 each year to the local community and the Eagles’ international charities.
