(Celina, Ohio) August 3, 2009 — The Grand Lake Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.) #1291 and the Celina Eagle Riders will host the Inaugural Eagle Riders Poker Run on Saturday, August 15 at the Grand Lake Eagle Aerie, located at 1400 St. Rt. 703 in Celina.
The poker run is open to the public. The entry fee is $10 per hand. Registration is from 10 a.m. to noon at the Grand Lake Aerie. The first vehicle is out at 12:30 p.m. All participants must return to the aerie by 6 p.m.
Prizes will be awarded by the number of hands. The stops include the Grand Lake Eagles, Rockford Eagles, Coldwater Eagles, Minster Eagles, Wapakoneta Eagles and the St. Marys Eagles.
A DJ will entertain guests at the Grand Lake Aerie beginning at 6 p.m. A 50/50 raffle will be available. All of the proceeds support diabetes research.
“Our aerie decided to highlight the great aeries in our area with the Inaugural Eagle Riders Poker Run,” said John Miller, State of Ohio Eagle Riders Northwest Zone Coordinator. “We hope the community will come out for this fun-filled day in support of diabetes research. A special thank you goes out to Charter member Jeff Steinke who has done a great job in coordinating this event."
The newly formed Celina Eagle Riders were instituted into the community this year and have grown to more than 50 members of the local community. They have already donated to the F.O.E. state diabetes charity.
The Grand Lake Eagles – home to more than 1,600 members – celebrates its 103rd anniversary in the Celina community this year. Grand Lake F.O.E. members donate more than $100,000 annually to local community organizations including the Mercer County Fair, Mercer County Sheriff’s Dept., and Celina Fire and Rescue. In addition, the Eagles have helped raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, the Celina Police Department, the Celina Area Visiting Nurses and Hospice and local schools.
