It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Past Grand Worthy President Elwin L. “Bud” Haigh. Bud joined the organization in April 1979 and was a proud member of Three Rivers, Michigan, Aerie #2303.
Bud routinely went above and beyond the call of duty to serve his peers. Six months after joining, he was named an Aerie Trustee, setting him on a course that led him to the Grand Aerie level.
He twice served as President of his home Aerie and spent over a decade as Aerie Secretary. He is enshrined in the Three Rivers Hall of Fame, the Michigan State Hall of Fame and the Grand Aerie Hall of Fame.
After serving as Michigan State President in 2003-04, Bud was elected Grand Inside Guard in 2006 and rose through the chairs, serving four years as a Grand Trustee before being named Grand Worthy Vice President at the 2012 International Convention in his home state of Michigan. Bud was later installed as Grand Worthy President during the 2014 Convention in Orlando, Fla.
Bud was a NASCAR driver who enjoyed bowling, golfing and spending time with his family and the Eagles.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia, and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to whom he dedicated so much of his life.
The Grand Aerie is eternally grateful for Bud’s service to the organization and his presence will be sorely missed by all.
